Ferragosto

There is something psychologically daunting about the 15th of August. It is the peak of summer holidays, the epitome of the hot day spent by the sea. At least it was for me when I could still consider myself to be a Mediterranean citizen. In my school years once the 15th August was over the slow countdown to return to school began. Summer was practically over.

Here in Lux summer has never really begun. We will probably spend the 15th August in rain and thunderstorms. It’s getting chilly and the cold and flu bugs are around.
